Browned Butter Snickerdoodles | The Novice Housewife

I have never had a snickerdoodle cookie. Which is weird because when I was in India I was obsessed with trying it out. When my friend and I wanted to open our own thing (back in 2009)- I wanted to include it in our menu, even though I had never tried it. I had only seen and read about it online. No bakery in India (as far as I was aware) sold these cookies. My friend could not understand my obsession with it, but anything with cinnamon sugar and I am already in love with it.

I really wanted to try a snickerdoodle from a good bakery before I made it at home to know how it should actually taste. But somehow it has always slipped my mind when I am out, and I have ended up trying other things. So I decided to try it out anyway.

Eggless sugar cookies-4

This is going to be a “super” quick one (I had to use the word super, you know since its superbowl sunday). One because my wrist is not allowing me to type too much. Two, today is Downton Abbey and Sherlock Day (besides Superbowl Sunday). And three I am way too tired. But since I had promised my friend that I will be posting this recipe soon, I am here keeping that promise.

A while back when I had posted about a sugar cookie recipe (with eggs), somebody else had also asked for an eggless sugar cookie recipe. This one is also for you.

Taste wise these were pretty good. Actually very good. Would not have guessed they were eggless and I ended up having quite a few while “taste-testing”. I wasn’t too adventurous with the shape (and will definitely get back to you when I have tested this recipe with more complicated shapes) but the recipe did hold the square and round shape pretty well and there was no spreading. Its also a very easy recipe to throw together and with results this good, you definitely should try it. And do let me know how it goes!

Pumpkin and oatmeal cookies-5Remember the Vanilla and Star cookies I had posted about a few weeks back.

And the lemon and almond eggless cookies.

Also the coconut and jam hearts? I had made all these three cookies and put them in boxes for my friends for christmas.

Along with these I had also added the pumpkin and oatmeal cookies that I am sharing with you today.

I got the recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction’s blog. I love her blog and everything on it. She is a sprinkles lover. And that itself is reason enough for me to be her fan. The funfetti cupcakes with chocolate malt frosting I have shared before were adapted from a recipe on her blog. They were a big hit and so were these.
