Super fudgey, super chocolatey, super easy brownie recipe.Super fudgey, super chocolatey, super easy brownie recipe.

I am always in search of a good brownie recipe. I have been pretty happy with the Dorie Greenspan Brownie recipe I have posted eons back (excuse the photography in that post), and generally that’s the recipe I make when I crave for brownies.  But when I come across a new brownie recipe, I have to pin or bookmark it, just so that I can compare it with the one I already use. Or maybe because I get an excuse to bake a brownie. Maybe.

I have tried a few recipes along the way- some were really good like An Edible Mosaic’s brownie recipe– fudgy and chewy, while some were super duper fudgey – still delicious but they leaned more towards a fudge than a brownie. Some I had yet to try and were lying in my boomkark folders or as pins on pinterest, waiting to be compared.

Super fudgey, super chocolatey, super easy brownie recipe.

One of the brownie recipes I have had bookmarked for a while was Nick Malgieri’s Supernatural Brownies and the other day while I was trying out something else that needed a brownie in it, I decided to give the supernatural brownie recipe a go.

Four years back my mom had some brownies and every brownie that anybody ever bakes and she gets to eat, is for sure compared to those brownies she had four years back. And none have ever reached to that level of greatness. When I asked her how did this fare against those, she said these were as good if not better. Score!

Since she is my taste expert these days and getting a thumbs up from her (believe me she can be very critical of my baking and cooking), meant that this recipe had to be shared with you all today.

….because well what’s Valentine’s Day (or life) without a little sluttiness.

I keep complaining to V that we do not travel much and though the “we” do not travel much part still stands, I am officially tired of traveling. My 2013 till now has been spent living out of the suitcase, and this is when I don’t even work. Even though its not official traveling I still won’t call it traveling for pleasure any more because honestly I just want to sit at one place and stick to that place for at least a week, if not more!

In my last post I mentioned the places I would be traveling to- from Kolkata to Lucknow to Jaipur to Delhi to Chandigarh to Delhi to Corbett to Allahabad to Delhi to finally Arizona in March. I have already attended four weddings this year (these are the ones that were weddings of close friends- I am not including the other random people’s receptions I have attended in between). I am traveling to Corbett for the fifth wedding (and hopefully the last one for some time) tonight. From there I head to my parents place in Allahabad and will also be attending the Mahakumbh Mela that I talked about in my last post.

I wanted to share my Vipassana and “bharat darshan” experience with all of you, but an hour on the laptop today will not suffice. SO I will leave that for another day.

Today, I want to share these brownies that I had taken on my train ride to Kolkata for my friends who were also traveling with me.

I have no clue why someone decided to name these brownies slutty.

A choc-chip cookie dough layer. Whole oreo cookies layered side by side on top of the cookie dough. A rich chocolatey brownie batter poured on top of the two and a final sprinkle of crushed oreos on top.

Ummm…..I kinda understand the idea behind calling them slutty. Just describing makes them sound like quite a tease! Chocolate chip cookie, brownies, oreos all in one bite- slut galore in your mouth!

So I am home alone for three nights.

V had to go for some office stuff to Texas, and I am left home alone.

This is the first time I am staying alone in our house. And I was very nervous about it. Our town is quite safe. So I was not scared of somebody breaking in (although, I made sure all my windows were closed and do not laugh, but I also put a chair/stool in front of the front and back doors. Just in case someone does decide to break in, I will be warned by the noise. Too much of CSI does that to you!)

Like I mentioned, I am not scared of someone breaking in (you are rolling your eyes, aren’t ya?), but all the horror movies I have seen have made me a little scared of the paranormal- ghosts to be more precise. So that you are sure, yes, I am an adult. But I have an overactive imagination. A very overactive imagination.

I remember after watching the movie The Ring , I slept with my lights on for a month, imagining the girl ghost in the movie standing next to my bed every time I switched off the lights off and then even when the image of the ghost left after a month, I continued sleeping with the lights on, thinking the ghost would get pissed off that I wasn’t sacred anymore, and would be tempted to scare me off.

Yes. Overactive. Imagination. Mine is.

So, how I always do when I am alone, the first night I slept with the lights in my room on. And with the TV on. And the bathroom lights on. And the hallway light on. And the living room light on. With the phone in my hand every time. I felt really bad that I was wasting so much electricity, but honestly I could not help it. This is how I slept last night as well. Today though, my protector, my husband, will be back home, and I should live in a world less scared of the evils it possesses. (I repeat- do not roll your eyes! or laugh! Please?)

Besides being scared at night, the other thing that was bothering me about being home alone for three days was the food situation. With V gone, I knew I would not feel like cooking for one. I knew I would be cooking Maggi noodles for lunch, dinner, and well, even breakfast. But, I did not want that. So, instead, as soon as V left I made it a point to pre-make things. I made the tomato feta pasta salad. I made the topping for the artichoke spinach pizza and also had the necessary leftovers for the chicken paranthas I had packed for V before he left. The maggi packets are left to be eaten some other week.

This post has no recipes. It has links to some of my previous recipes though. And all of them are good. Some are quite old, some not so much.
